The medical faculty at the Medical University Varna has more than 50 years of experience in higher education, both for Bulgarians and international students.
The MU Varna counts approximately 140 professors and lecturers, and about 350 academic instructors. The English programme for the Medicine and Odontology studies was first introduced in October 2004 and it has enjoyed an increasing popularity ever since. The medicine study programme is structured in six academic years. The first two years (4 semesters) are the preclinical years, where the students learn scientific principles, and the other 4 years (8 semesters) are the clinical years, in which the practical training increases during the study course.
Ever since the introduction of the English study programme, the degrees in Medicine and Odontology are taught completely in English. The participating students come predominantly from America, Germany, Spain, Greece, Iran, Japan, Canada, Macedonia, Nigeria, Turkey and also many other countries. The University has two renovated student dorms for more than 700 students and a canteen.
The Medical University Varna Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov is located in the heart of Varna, within walking distance of the city centre and the pedestrian area. The academic training they provide in Medicine is of high quality and complies with all European standards. The MU Varna is the first university in Bulgaria to receive the highest recognition level by the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM).
