From now on, we offer all high school graduates, who are interested in studying veterinary medicine, a new possibility in order to start their studies: the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies in Jelgava, Latvia. Thereby, it consorts with our other two partner universities (Universidad Cardenal Herrera und Lithuanian University of Health Sciences), which offer the degree program veterinary medicine.
The Study Structure
The degree program of veterinary medicine at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies covers 12 semesters, therefore 6 years, all in all. During these studies, the students will learn everything important for their intended profession as a veterinarian. The diagnosis, treatment and prophylaxis is thereby the focus of the training. Beyond that, it will involve ethical and economic aspects, too.
The City of Jelgava
The student city Jelgava in Latvia is 40 kilometers away from the capital Riga and has around 61,500 inhabitants. Jelgava is known as the „greenest city of Latvia“, because within the city you will find many green spaces. The Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies is located in a palace, directly at the edge of the river Lielupe. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies is located about 2 kilometers away from the main building, but can be reached quickly and easily.
The Student Life in Jelgava
The university offers its students especially many sports facilities for different sports: basketball, volleyball, table tennis, athletics, Greek-Roman wrestling, judo, aerobics, orienteering, soccer, weightlifting, badminton and horse-riding. All these sports are a good balance for studies. Beyond that, this will support the team building among the students, so that you will quickly make friends with (international) fellow students.
The Admission Procedure/The Admission Exam
In order to study veterinary medicine at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, all future students have to take an admission exam, which is taking place in English and consists of questions concerning the subject biology. The Accreditation and Recognition
The degrees awarded by the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies are recognized in the EU, the European Economic Area, in the USA and many other countries worldwide. A university transfer (e.g. to a university in your home country) is – due to the ECTS credit transfer system possible at any time.
