The human medicine study course, at the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin, has a duration of 6 years, i.e. 12 semesters. At the end of successful studies, the academic degree “Physician (MD).” will be awarded. Per academic year you have to absolve resp. acquire 60 ECTS. The overall amount of hours, of the seminars and practice units, during the six years, is 5710.
These seven medical areas of study arise, which will accompany the students for five years:
- Morphological sciences
- Scientific basis of medicine
- Preclinical sciences
- Behavioral sciences with elements of professionalism
- Clinical sciences
- Clinical sciences with treatment
- Legal and organizational basis of medicine
During the sixth academic year, (eleventh and twelfth semester) 30 weeks of practice units are to be performed in the following medical disciplines:
- Internal medicine
- Pediatrics
- Surgery
- Gynecology and obstetrics
- Psychiatry
- Emergency medicine
- Family medicine
- 6 weeks in a specialization field chosen by the student
