The Faculty of Dentistry of the PUM offers the dentistry study course, at the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin, with a duration of 5 years, i.e. 10 semesters. At the end of successful studies, the academic degree “Dentist (DMD).” will be awarded. The first two years of the study at the Faculty of Dentistry of the PUM serve to give an introduction and to impart medical essentials and preclinical study content. From third to fifth year, the focus lies on dental disciplines and clinical learning content. Per academic year you get/have to absolve 60 ECTS. The overall amount of hours, of the seminars and practice units, during the five years, is 5000.
Out of this tree central factors, seven medical areas of study arise, which will accompany the students for four years:
- Morphological sciences
- Scientific basis of medicine
- Preclinical sciences
- Behavioral sciences with elements of professionalism
- Clinical sciences in general medicine
- Clinical sciences in dentistry
- Legal and organizational basis of medicine
During the fifth academic year (ninth and tenth semester) at the Faculty of Dentistry of the PUM, 30 weeks of practice units are to be performed in the following dentistry disciplines:
- Conservative dentistry
- Prosthetics
- Dental surgery
- Paedodontics
- Periodontal and mucous membrane diseases
- Maxillo-facial surgery
- Orthodontics
- Gerodentistry
- Integrated paedodontics
- Integrated conservative dentistry
