Studying Dentistry Abroad
Or How You Preempt the Numerus Clausus-Chaos
The study of dentistry still belongs to the most popular course of studies. This is attributable to the occupational profile of a dentist, because dentistry is connected to theoretical academics and concrete practice, together with technical skill, paired with sensitivity for aesthetics. Other reasons for the popularity of this study course, are certainly, the future income opportunities and the high prestige of the occupational image. To get a university place for dentistry in Germany is extremely difficult, because of the demanding numerus clausus a place to study is just reserved for the best high-school graduates. The numerous clausus is not a previously set value, but a result of the current competition between the applicants, who have passed their A levels in the same state. Depending on state, the numerus clausus for dentistry totals between 1,0 and 1,4. The applicants, who do not match the numerus clausus with their graduation grade, have to take a long wait of twelve semesters, six years, into account. Despite these valid conditions for dentistry study admission, there is no reason for despair: There is the chance to study dentistry abroad, without NC-barriers and countless waiting semesters. Here the admission happens through a written and, mostly also an oral admission exam.
