Studying Veterinary Medicine Without NC
Is That Even Possible Without Waiting Semesters?
To study veterinary medicine is a big goal for many people, that is hard to reach in Germany. On average, the nationwide numerus clausus (NC) in Germany for the winter semester 2014/2015 was at 1,3 with one or two waiting semesters. So even with a very good A levels grade point average, it is very hard to access the desired major directly after your high school degree.
Who does not want to wait many semesters and wants to study, regardless of the NC, can study abroad. MSA offers two different possibilities, firstly the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences in Kaunas, Lithuania and secondly the Universidad Cardenal Herrera in Valencia, Spain. In your studies you will be prepared for the job as a veterinarian and you will get the key competences taught. Besides learning to make a diagnosis, you will also get insights in breeding, food safety and ethics. In these two countries you can also learn to deal with non-local animal species, which is, in the age of globalization, very important.
You will get much practical experience in animal clinics and laboratories, in both study locations, which will help you in your future professional life. The focus of this study path is on prophylaxis and therapy for animals of all kinds.
If being a veterinarian is too monotonous for you, you can also work in the research of animal care, at pharmaceutical facilities, at a pet food manufacturer or in animal care and animal hygiene facilities. The profession of a zoologist can also be targeted at with that course of study.
Why not take the chance to study abroad and use it as a direct access, instead of waiting for many semesters in Germany, where there is also a high level of competition between the future students. Of course a place to study abroad is also highly demanded, but there are different admission requirements than in Germany. In Valencia it undergoes a normal MSA admission process, with which we can help you. Furthermore, there is an interview about your motivations for the study path. In Kaunas however, there is also this interview, but the admission is taking place with a written admission exam, for which you will get the needed learning material from us beforehand.
A great advantage of the MSA service is, that we have a certain contingent for places at our disposal at the universities, so you can absolutely get a study place, if you pass the admission exam or you come into question for the university after the application procedure.
Besides the studies, Valencia offers optimal general conditions for studying abroad. The sun, beach and sea provide the perfect capabilities for recovery alongside the studying and of course you can do yourself well with great food and wine. The city of Valencia, as the third biggest city of Spain, presents many opportunities for your free time, for example the beach with 320 sunny days per year, which is very important for many students when they are abroad.
The degrees of both universities are recognized Europe-wide, in Lithuania the degree you will get is “Master of Veterinary Medicine”, in Spain it is the “Grado en Veterinaria”. Both academic degrees and studying in the English language, offer you a superb chance for your professional future. You can even practice in another country, other than Germany, and you will be preferred over someone, who does not have this international experience.
