A Successful Change Back to Germany

Immediately Two Places to Study!

It is the greatest news of the month and the result of the Bologna-Reform, which bears fruit. Two German odontology students have succeeded to easily perform a change back to a German university after two semesters in Valencia in Spain.

Not only one place at university was offered for each of them, but two: The students had a free choice between a study place for the first semester in Hamburg and for the third semester in Dresden. Both of them decided to resume their study of dental medicine in Hamburg. Even if it is the first semester, the majority of the acquired course assessment, respectively credits from Spain were recognized and credited. Thus the two students could be glad about getting their anatomical dissect-practice, the microscopic anatomical course, the terminology-seminar with their passed qualification in Latin and the psychology internship, accepted.

This case shows, in an impressive way, that the theory of the Bologna Process has become reality. By the recognition of performed course credits within the European Union and the universities, that are part of the Bologna-Reform, a barrier-free studying is guaranteed and changing the place of study is being promoted.

Thereby we have taken a great step towards the core aims of the Bologna-Reform, which is: to create a European Higher Education Area, in which internationally uniform standards and guidelines regarding the study structure (Bachelor / Master), the comparability of performed study accomplishments and degree, the quality assurance, the tools of transparency (ECTS) and an unrestricted mobility of the students, are being pertained and guaranteed.
